TV and Learning

I feel very strongly about monitoring what shows kids watch and how much of it that they watch. And I also feel that most shows are inappropriate and pointless. However, I have also found that some shows can be very helpful in teach kids some things. There is one show that if Brennden is awake early enough I love for him to watch. At first I thought that maybe he wasn't quite old enough for the show, but he proved to me that he is.
One day the show was based around the letter W. I didn't really think that he was ready to learn letters by site, but it was a show that I would like him to watch and hopefully get interested in since it was actually teaching something. Later that day we went to Walmart and on the handle of all the carts it says Walmart. He pointed to the W and said, 'Look mom, a W." Boy was I impressed. I guess he is ready to learn the alphabet.
About a week after that he pulled out his alphabet train puzzle and brought it to me. "Look mom, an O." WOW!! So for about two months now I have been trying to teach him his letters with the help of Word World (the show), his train puzzle, and his doodle pad. And I am very pleased to say that he is doing a wonderful job. He can write an O and W now. And his list of letters that he knows by sight is continually growing. To date he knows the letters: B, E, G, H, L, M, O, S, T, U, and W. Every time that we are out and about in town, he points out these letters. He is working on the letter A, but he keeps calling it a triangle. I can see how he thinks that though.
I know that i brag about him in almost every post, but I can't help it. I'm home with him all day so I don't really have anything else going on except him. And every mother loves to tell stories about her kids.

Where'd The Bug Go?

This morning I spent ten to fifteen minutes looking around the house for an imaginary bug. When Brennden woke up this morning the first words out of his mouth were, "Where'd the bug go?" He then dragged me around the house to help him look for it. He must have liked the bug alot to be looking for him so diligently. But Tigger finally managed to distract him. However, Tigger was sad and crying so I had to hold him and give him loves until Brennden decided that Tigger was all better. He has such an imagination.

New Hair Cut

I decided that Brennden could us a hair cut since his hair was 2 inches long on top. I only want to trim it but.... Dustin started cutting away and it was shorter than I originally wanted but it turned out great! I must admit that he does a better job than I do. Brennden really likes it too. :)

Pancakes?

This weekend we went to Walmart to buy a few things. This movie just happened to catch Dustin's eye. When we went to watch it later that night I asked him what it was about. His reply, "I don't know." "Then why did you even get it?" I asked. "Because his head was on pancakes." I almost died of laughter. He had spent $20 in a movie that he had no idea what is was about. It ended up being a good one, but still. I guess this goes to show, when you go to a store hungry, you'll buy anything that shows food on it. Even if it isn't food.

The Temple

Dustin and I are so excited! This month our ward has decided to do baptisms for the dead instead of other temple work because of all the converts. This way more people will have the opportunity to go. And we are some of those people! We can hardly wait! I haven't done baptisms for the dead since I was in Mia Maids. Boy does that feel like forever ago.

Expanding

Expanding in more ways than one. 23 weeks down 19 to go and I don't feel like I have much more room to expand. The place we are living in doesn't have much room for the expanding family either. Hope we can fix that one before too long.

PENIS!!!

Today while meeting with a realtor Angie and I were signing papers when Brennden started his normal shouting, no big deal right? Wrong. The other day Brennden discovered a new body part and said "dad what is it" well taking Dixies example I said "its a penis." Bad decision. Since then he likes to say or rather yell "PENIS" all the time. Lets see how sacrament goes from now on.

Brennden got so tired yesterday that he grabbed a blanket and put himself down for a nap.
